Sadly the crystal vase (if there ever was one in reality) offer was broken off without explanation, I never got to meet the person who had confirmed the trade by email and phone, so here we are one step back with an opportunity for someone to get a nice little food appliance. The Rice Cooker / Veggie Steamer is back on the block! Perhaps we can go two steps forward!?

Are there any students out there, or do you know of any heading back to school who might be interested in cooking rice and steaming veggies worry free? Offers to trade with me are now being accepted here with a deadline of September 15th. The best offer by then takes it home.

Speed Bump

A few sunny Friday's ago I bicycled home from work at the Day Care to find this book on the ground in front of a speed bump just before my driveway. I don't believe in coincidences. Since then I have begun researching adoption a little more and have adapted the twin trade, now One Red Guitar Pick to reflect the needs in this area.

The other day I was sitting in an Early Childhood Education program's group intake interview one of the ladies spoke of how at some over crowded, under staffed orphanages children are never touched and sit in their beds alone rocking themselves.
Those who survive grow up to be adults of isolation, living lonely lives as they never learned the joys and challenges of relating to and interacting with other people.

This breaks my heart, and need not be the reality of any child.

What we could do for a few here can make all the difference to many!

Things have also slowed down in terms of offers and visits to the site, one reason for slower traffic is that I have less time to promote the blog. Please feel free to fire an email with a link to Model To Mansion and One Red Guitar Pick to your friends and local media.

In terms of why so few offers, you tell me... There's a beautiful, brand new Italian Crystal Laural Vase with monetary value of $85 awaiting someone's generous trade up offer to move us a little closer towards that mansion; a home of warmth, welcome, love and laughter for orphans no more.

Shifra's Fun Trade

As for Shifra's (the children's) Fun Side Trade:

Aurora and all had a lot of fun at Shifra's birthday celebration. Shifra had traded a birthday invitation complete with entertainment from Kayy's Special Dayz. She's enjoyed playing with Aurora's farm animal trade. The little yellow dinosaur has joined her brothers coloured dinosaur herd.

What of 'Lumina' the 5 inch long glow in the dark Lizard? Shifra traded it up! She was told by Aurora's Mom, Sonya, that she could keep whatever she wanted and trade the rest. So what did she get for it?

Though Holly and the kids were unable to make the trade in person and accept Shifra's birthday invitation along with 'Lumina', their Daddy Terry helped by in proxy trading the book, 'The Lost Present' by Gallery Books and a jade type bracelet. There was a crystal type heart necklace but some how in transit the heart had a piece missing. I don't think we can trade up from a broken heart, so in place of this we will have to add a heart shaped cookie or something. Unless someone is willing to trade up a whole heart something and replace this broken one...

So yes, Shifra is trading on up the book The Lost Present and the bracelet on to the next Children connected to a big people trade I make with their parent(s) for the Rice Cooker or something else on down the line if a childless person trades with me for the cooker.

So let's get cooking with those trade offers. Someone has to see some value in this rice cooker? If not for yourself, for someone you know could use one. How about that someone who has been known to burn the bottom of the pot and ruin the rice a time or two because they found something better to do and forgot the pot on the hot stove! Oh and don't forget, on a whole other level it steams vegetables at the same time! What'll they think of next? Audience goes "Ohhh!" And then "ahhh" as the lid is lifted and steam escapes. The announcer says, "Isn't that great people? Isn't it time everyone had a litte extra steam in their life? "Yeah", the audience reads enthusiastically off the cue cards, smile big and clap, clap, clap... "And it can be all yours including the 'Use and care Book', all for just...your offer. Trade #2 was made official today after a surprise call at 7:16am by Terry of Maple Ridge who was ready to help make the trade a done deal. He said,"Sorry I'm calling so early but I'm outside your door." Well I threw some clothes on, and then found that our teenage couch surfer T-Ruth was up. She graciously took the official trade photo above of three Lego adventure books for one Rice Cooker / Veggie steamer. Who will trade something bigger and better for it? Remember this is for the orphans!

Trade #2 Rice Cooker/Veggie Steamer

Mmm, smells good. Yes, Holly and hubby from Maple Ridge have traded a two in one Rice Cooker / Veggie Steamer by Black and Decker, what's your offer for this? They only wanted the Lego books for their babes and so the trade has been split in two. Trade 2 b) will now be known as trade b 2 rv beginning with 11 Bionicle Books to trade up to a Family RV. Yes a whole other trade up! Who want's to get in on helping some some serious fun become reality? I do! Me too please! It was a perfect place to start if you ask me, in the gorgeous North Vancouver bedroom community of Deep Cove on a beautiful sunny day we pulled together the first trade thanks to Sonya and her daughter Aurora.

As we both had kids I thought a double the fun trade was in order and the kids had their own trade on the side. More on that and other details in this adventure from Mabel to a mansion for orphans are on the horizon...

Getting fully caught up in the spirit of trading up I suggested it might double the fun to add a Children's side trade and they went for it. Aurora offered my daughter Shifra (my son hasn't gotten into the spirit of trading yet) "a glow in the dark lizard (five inches long) and a mini t-Rex dinosaur, a farm cow and farm donkey (about 4 inches long and 3 inches high)"

Sonya sent this picture of Aurora's trade offer:

Sonya gave Shifra the option of keeping what she wanted and choosing what to trade up. Together Shifra and I decided to offer Lumina the 5 inch cool glow in the dark lizard on the Children's Side Trade #2 block, along with another time sensitive surprise.
The farm animals are now in Shifra's amazing, talking animal show and I believe the mini T-Rex has joined the others in David's rainbow herd of mini dinosaurs. (Never did see that bag of chips though...)

Hi, I'm setting out to have some serious fun, want to come? I'm trading Mabel the 11-12 week old fetal model for something bigger and better until I get all the way up to a mansion and farm or property to become a home for orphans, their new parents, widows and single Mom's and extra caregivers.

I've traveled to many places both near and far and whenever I have gone past big empty mansions I have said, "For orphans!" Wouldn't it be great to help make a lot of dreams come true?
